Focolare Social Centers of the Philippines
Bukas Palad (“open palms”) began in the 1980s when Focolare youth in Manila responded to Chiara Lubich’s call to serve those most in need through concrete acts of love. Guided by the words “Freely you have received, freely you give” (Mt 10:8), the initiative grew to Cebu, Manila, Tagaytay, Davao, and La Union, with Pag-asa (“hope”) emerging in Tagaytay in 2000.
Today, Bukas Palad and Pag-asa accompany vulnerable children and families through education support, healthcare, skills training, and livelihood programs - upholding dignity and fostering unity.
